Preview: Benjamin Damage – Heliosphere

Heliosphere is the upcoming album from Benjamin Damage due for release in early 2013 on 50 Weapons.

Benjamin Damage‘s name may ring some bells, and if you’ve heard his previous output, you will understand why his name is ringing bells like a fire alarm. Having made brilliant moody Techno with with the fantastic Doc Daneeka, as well as his own solo tracks such as the fantastic Swarm , it comes with little suprise that Heliosphere is outstanding.

Benjamin Damage has managed to craft a proper album with Heliosphere. This not a collection of tracks that were produced around the same time or even a number of tracks that sound like they are variations on the same theme. There is an almost narrative arch to album. The laid-back, airy Laika builds into the old school 010X before the mental and hard hitting Delirium Tremens kicks in. Stand out tracks have to be the magnificent End of Days and Together.

If you like you’re techno a bit more thoughtful and interesting then Heliosphere is for you. If this album is not the soundtrack for the upcoming Bladerunner sequel I’m going to be upset.
